The Fingerprints of God

As we look forward to the holiday season this year, let's ponder the things that matter the most: the people around us!

"Fingerprints of God" by Steven Curtis Chapman says:
I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know its true
You're a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you're covered with the fingerprints of God

God's Word says that we are made in His image. We are made in God's image...wait a minute...we are made in God's image.

How amazing is that!
What an amazing truth to ponder. God created us to be just exactly what He wanted us to be.

Despite our so-called flaws, despite our weaknesses, despite our lack of opportunities, we ARE who God wants us to be!
Let's rejoice in that!
Let's treasure that.

Now...let's live for the God who created us! Let's serve Him everyday!

And this holiday season, let's not forget those around us, who, just like us, are created in His image.
When all is lost, it's those around us, our friends and family who will help us through!

20/20 Vision

Recently, Bob and I both had eye surgery to correct our physical visual impairment. It was a painful process for me, as I received the LASEK procedure, because I have a thin cornea. However, for Bob is was fairly painless (after the initial procedure was over) and his recovery was quick! I had about 2 days where I couldn't even open my eyes, so I did a lot of thinking and praying. The whole process made me think about our spiritual lives and how we are all so spiritually short-sighted, myself included. It's so easy to be consumed by our daily routine and the people immediately around us, that we don't even consider those outside of our sphere of influence.

In the whole process leading up to surgery, I learned that having 20/20 vision means that one can see 20% of the detail up to 20 meters away. Wow...only 20% of the detail. I want greater than that. Apparently, in a couple weeks, our eyesight will be greater than that...my physical eyesight that is.

How about my spiritual eyesight? Do I only concern myself with 20% of the people and ministry around me? Is it more? Is it LESS?? It is time for some personal reflection and some evaluation of my time and money.

I guess that is why missions has always been my calling. I want to go. I want to share. I want to give. No, I am not perfect. No, I do not know everything that is taught in the Bible. But, I want to; I strive to.

May God give me Spiritual Lasik to correct my short-sighted spiritual vision, so I can be a better missionary for Him!

Prayers for Funds

I don’t know if you have yet received our most recent prayer letter which was sent out a couple of months ago, however Becky and I are preparing to head to Peru on a short survey trip in either late March or early April. We will be doing this through Baptist Mid-Missions with whom we will be working when we head to Peru full-time. Previously, we planned on having our home church handle the funds, but it was determined that having the mission agency handle the money would be better.
This survey trip will last for 3-4 months and will give us a good idea of the location and the ministries in which we will be involved when we go down as full-time missionaries. We need to raise some support for this trip, and because we are still in Korea and can’t return until the end of February, it makes it more difficult to raise the support we need. I am asking individual people who know us, to pray with us about supporting us. We are in need of $4,000-$6,000 for this trip, most of which will go toward airline tickets and a month-long trip to the jungle. The longer it takes us to raise the support, the more expensive these costs will become. That is why there is a $2000 gap in the cost. We know God is in control and if you can’t help, there are no hard feelings. Please pray for us, which is the greatest support you can provide! If you feel you can donate, I can pass on the information you will need, including how to use Paypal, should you want to use that form of payment. God bless each of you and your families this holiday season, and if you have any questions, please let me know.

Take a Look~

Please take a moment to look at the pages to the left. Here you will find all of the missionary updates for the Urubamba Valley! The Lord is doing amazing things here and we cannot wait to be there serving along side them!

Please be praying for us!!!

As you are fully aware, the economy in the US is still recovering from the massive financial crisis, and because of this, churches across our nation are cutting their missionary budgets, sending many missionaries home from the field. We know that the Lord will supply all our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus. Please pray for support to come in for this short-term trip and for us, as we will begin raising full-time support shortly after returning in July!

Finally...Bass 2 Peru

Well, "it's about time!"

It's been almost 5 years, since our last missions trip. We've known the Lord would eventually send us back..and have been waiting patiently for His timing!

After moving 4 times on 2 continents, our travels since our Peru 2005 trip have finally taken us to Busan, South Korea, where we are currently teaching ESL for EPIK (English Program in Korea). The Lord has given us opportunities in every place we have lived to be involved in our local church ministries, in one form or another! We are SO thankful that the Lord is faithful to His promises and that we can see a light at the end of the tunnel...

As many of you have been involved in our lives, some for a short time...and some for a LONG time (hopefully that's a good thing :), we would love to continue sharing our journey with you and share with you how God is leading us to Peru. We are currently making plans for full-time missions to Peru and would love to keep you informed on how you can pray for us. We covet your prayers and hope you will continue to be a part of our future lives and ministries, as we are finally heading out on this great journey.
